• change your password
• setup mail forwarding
• setup automatic replies

What is Mbox?

Mbox is an email service provided for contract customers of Research & High-Performance Computing Support. Mail domains served by Mbox include:

• @alumni.mcmaster.ca
• @chemistry.mcmaster.ca
• @math.mcmaster.ca
• @physics.mcmaster.ca
• @psychology.mcmaster.ca
• @rhpcs.mcmaster.ca

Settings for mail applications

Instructions for setting up Mac OS X Mail and pine under linux can be found under Setting up mail clients on our Mail Migration documentation site.

Incoming (IMAP)

• server: mbox.mcmaster.ca
• port: 993
• use SSL (OS X, iOS; Outlook) or SSL/TLS  (Thunderbird)
  
• NB: leave "IMAP Path Prefix" or "Mail folder" blank (some older RHPCS mail servers required "~/mail" or "mail")

Outgoing (SMTP)

• server: mbox.mcmaster.ca
• port: 587
• use SSL (OS X, iOS), TLS (Outlook, Gmail), or STARTTLS (Thunderbird, Gmail app for Android) 
• authenticate via password
  
• NB If the settings above do not work, please try port 465 with SSL.
